Grow Citrus Fruit Part 2
Citrus fruit trees do need fertilizer to stay healthy in Tucson. Look for an organic fertilizer for citrus. Here is how much nitrogen in general citrus trees need based on size:
Newly planted tree - 0 - 0.13 lb/year
Small tree(2-3 ft) - 0.25 - 0.50 lb/year
Medium tree (4-8 ft) - 0.75 - 1.00 lb/year
Large tree(10 ft or more) - 1.25 - 1.50 lbs/year
Note: For grapefruit and pummelo trees use 1/2 the amounts listed. For lemons and limes, use about 10% more than the amounts shown.
