Survive the freezing weather!

Beautiful Gardeners,

Did you miss the weather report yesterday? Tonight is going to be really cold. Chances are good it will freeze. Your plants may have survived the cold of one freezing night but surviving 2 or more nights might not be possible. So cover up and keep your veggies growing. They will reward you generously!

If you want to increase you chances on extending the season of your annual herbs and veggies…

Make a totally tubular tent😊

* first water the soil, not the plant

* now, obtain from the masonry department of your nearest home center, masonry wire, one for every three feet of tube. Cut masonry wire to reach over the tops of your plants 6 inches AND to the size of your cover material. Now place you masonry wire ends into ground so as to arch over your tender plants.

* now cover up that basil and all those soft annuals with row cover. Cover over your masonry wire with your row cover. Cover and wire is best 6 inches above the tops of a plants highest leaves and all the way down to the ground. Anchor row cover with soil, rocks, boards, bricks anything to keep your row cover secured and your plants warm. Cover with Agribon or similar row cover or plastic, remove daily, blankets, sheets what ever you can cover up with for the night. Make sure the cover goes to the ground and traps the earths thermal heat.

What’s new to eat at the Garden Goddess?…The peas are here and they are beautiful, sweet and full of protein. Peas are definitely a feel good food.
