Predictably Unpredictable

Beautiful Gardeners,

If you find you don’t like to deal with this Predictably Unpredictable weather, there is a kind of gardening that the weather doesn’t affect too much… and that is sprouting. Most sprouts and micro greens grow well indoors or outdoors.

So I created a 20 minute workshop that comes with a Sunflower Grow Kit included, just for you. It’s called “SPROUT WALK.” At the workshop you will assemble/plant your kit with sunflowers and take it home to enjoy on your sandwiches, salads, whatever you like, whenever you want Plus, you can use your kit again and again! It will work for just about everyone, even if you have a condominium.

I will walk you through, a fun, easy, step by step process. First, we will plant Sunflowers into the grow kit, then do the SPROUT WALK, showing you the easy methods of growing sunflowers in any weather. So put on your walking shoes and hat, come to the “SPROUT WALK” and expect to have fun!

CHIA MICRO GREENS?

What’s going on? One day it is hot, the next it’s cold. Since there have been so many weather changes I decided to create a mostly indoor crop of CHIA MICRO GREENS, just for you!! They’re great, with a mild taste and powerful nutrition. Just add them to anything to boost the value of your meals, smoothies and green drinks.

Chia seeds actually got their name from the Mayan word for “strength,” and for good reason. Chia seeds and micro greens are extremely healthy, which is why they are known as a superfood.

Here are a few benefits of chia microgreens:

  • Black chia assists heart and brain health and is rich in Calcium, Phosphorous and Omega-3 fatty Acids.

  • They have maximum nutrients and minimal calories.

  • They have high levels of ALA omega-3 fatty acids (higher than flaxseed and salmon).

  • They are a good source of fiber and antioxidants (which neutralize free radicals).

  • High in Calcium

  • They are high in Manganese, (good for bones and helps our body use other essential nutrients)

  • Have plenty of Phosphorous to help maintain bones and teeth.

  • They are a great protein source.

  • Chia micro greens can be added to your favorite dishes to boost flavor and nutrition. They can also be added to smoothies and green drinks to make an even healthier drink! Easy peezy!

You can pick up your chia micro greens and all your favorite sprouts on Sunday at St. Philips Plaza, 9am-1pm, at the Garden Goddess booth next to the entrance of Reforma and this Saturday and every other Saturday at Rincon Valley Farmers and Artisan Market at 12500 East Old Spanish Trail, just a few miles east of Houghton at the BIG BARN, 8 am-1 pm.

Come join the fun!
